Title – Architecture and Deployment strategies for Private 5G (a Practitioner’s lens)

Abstract – Private 5G (P5G) connectivity enables enterprises in many industry verticals to unlock business outcomes that were not possible until now. With the ability to connect more devices wirelessly with Private 5G, enterprises are now able to accelerate their digital transformation journeys and enable new business solutions. P5G is becoming prevalent among enterprise customers with applications that demand highly reliable, secure, and trusted wireless connectivity. These same customers frequently have existing Wi-Fi and wired networks and want to leverage common operational paradigms across all their access technologies. Further, there is often a need to support device movement between P5G and Wi-Fi networks. Many enterprises are finding valid use cases for P5G in their existing networks. This increases the urgency of integrating the P5G solution into the enterprise domain with end-to-end security. This session will detail on the trends driving P5G across industry verticals with practical use cases. It will demystify how P5G is securely deployed with Edge Computing principles. These customized P5G solutions are now creating massive acceleration for IoT deployments – from Health care to Retail, from Logistics to Transportation, from Service Providers to Enterprises.

Title – Challenges in developing a 3GPP compliant 5G radio. (Online)

Abstract – This talk will provide an overview of challenges in designing a 5G radio base station in compliance with 3GPP specifications. While 3GPP normative standards provide the compliance requirement, the technology know-how is left to the product implementation. This talk provides a teaser to some of the technical insights that are essential for product realization.

Profile:

Subhas leads the R&D efforts for 5G product development at HFCL as a senior vice president. In this role, Subhas works with academia, standards development organisations, open source and technology partners. The portfolio of products include O-RAN based Macro RU, indoor small cell, medium range outdoor small cell, and Transport Products for interconnecting disagregated RAN nodes.

Prior to joining HFCL, Subhas served as the Chief Architect of Wipro's organization-wide 5G initiative from 2018 to 2021. He was recognized as a Wipro Fellow for his technical contributions. He has over 30 years of engineering experience in Telecom Research & Development. He is responsible for driving standards contribution, academic collaboration, innovation partnership with technology partners, open source contribution and solution building in 5G. He is a passionate technologist and has developed a variety of solutions & frameworks in emerging technology areas such as 5G, SDN/NFV, Li-Fi, Cyber Security and AI for Network Automation. Subhas holds an engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering.
